Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Open University will soon launch – earn while you learn program for its students.The program will be work place based learning and will be first of it’s kind in the entire state.
Open varsity while celebrating it’s third foundation day today signed an MoU with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) in this regard. Students will start getting stipend from the first month and they will be attached to service sectors informed the University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Srikant Mohapatra.Minimum eligibility criteria for the said program will remain as plus two pass and students will be selected through a screening process said Dr. Mohapatra. OSOU launched a mobile application for online admission process, which is unique to any University in the state during the celebration.
Delivering the foundation day lecture the chief guest Vivek Sawant, Managing director MKCL said, education has to be autonomous and self sufficient. The father of the nation Bapu always emphasized on this aspect. Similarly, Gandhian Concept Nayee Talim should be the concept for providing skill based education.
Local MLA Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi congratulated OSOU for achieving several milestones in this short span. Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University Prof. Deepak Kumar Behera suggested to integrate human values in the education system.
Odisha State Open University signed two MoUs with Sambalpur University and Gangadhar Meher University to provide add on courses to their students. It also signed another MoU with State Institute Of Rural Development and PR to enhance the skill and managerial capacity of elected Panchayatiraj representatives of the state by providing them Rural Development courses.
In the coming days the varsity is planning to open it’s Study Centers at Orissa university of Agriculture and technology (OUAT), Berhampur University, Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University and Ravenshaw University informed Dr. Mohapatra, the Vice-Chancellor. This will equip the students across the state with skill and job oriented courses.
Open University established in 2015 is providing Post Graduate Diploma, Advance Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses in 37 fields which includes management, Rural Development, journalism and mass communication etc. Study materials are provided both in Odia and in English to the students.
