Bhubaneswar: Sprinter Dutee Chand of Odisha can now participate in all major championships for another two months as the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) suspended the International Association of Athletic Federation’s (IAAF) regulation for hyper androgen in female athletes till September.
This has cleared the way for the sprinter to participate in the World Athletics Championships in London as she has been invited by the IAAF even after failing in women’s 100m event to qualify for the international competition.
The CAS suspended the IAAF regulation and asked the apex athletics body to gather scientific evidence that high levels of hyper androgen in female athletes boost their performance and give them an edge over others. The court has given the IAAF two months for the evidence.
