Odisha: Rayagada frontline COVID warriors applauded from several quarters for serving people during time of crisis

Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada: Taking few unruly people to task, though an upheaval task, has been one of the prime agenda of Rayagada police during the lock downs and shut downs in the entire district. This, apart from their regular maintenance of law & order, has coupled their responsibilities. With the responsibilities came the agonies. Out of 2346 total infected, 364 are frontline covid warriors, mostly from police force.

Fortunately Dr. Sarvana Vivek M,IPS, SP, Rayagada has kept the morale of the police force high in spite of around 16% of the frontline covid warriors are affected out of total infected in Rayagada. Even Rayagada police station was shut down for few days as some police personnel got infected with the dreaded virus. This has not deterred the police force to strictly adhere to minimum quality standards, budge to their traditional role and contain the illicit liquor brewing, marijuana trade, trafficking of cows & buffaloes, theft & robbery, etc.

To cite an example, recently police of Kalyan Singhpur police station had a prized catch of 44 nos of buffaloes carried by 11 nos of Bolero pick up vehicles to Andhra Pradesh for slaughtering purpose. The approximate value of the buffaloes was Rs 10 lakhs. All the vehicles were seized and the accused named Anil Gantha of Maligaon village, Chandu Chintada of Bhujagada village, Surya Rao Bacheli of Bada Raising village were arrested along with 14 other of their accomplices vide K Singhpur PS case no-133 u/s-188/269/270/429/34 IPC/Sec 11(1)(a) of PCA Act.

In yet another case, Rayagada police was applauded from several quarters when it recovered the entire Rs.24 lakhs, a Bajaj pulsar two wheeler and arrested four persons namely Anil Garadia, Bibek Garadia, Bapi Mishal, Sudhanshu Mishal involved in a robbery case. Further investigation by police revealed that the employee Anil Garadia working in a money collection agency and carrying the entire money entered into a criminal conspiracy with all his associates mentioned above and staged the robbery.

Good news for the denizens of Rayagada. The infected police personnel are fast recovering after home isolation as prescribed in govt guidelines. Last Monday Rayagada Police welcomed back 10 police #CovidWarriors who successfully overcame COVID-19 and resumed their duty. SDPO Rayagada, IIC & staff members were seen welcoming the Covid warriors back to Police Station. They belong to 3rd SS Bn who are posted to Rayagada PS. All of these brave hearts have volunteered for donating their plasma responding to the clarion call of CM Naveen Pattanaik. This has kindled a strong ray of hope among Rayagada citizenry that they can and will certainly win over this critical situation.
