Bhubaneswar: Puri MP Pinaki Misra has urged Railways Minister Piyush Goyal for sanctioning funds for renovation and upgradation of the Puri railway station to make it a world-class one.
In a letter to Goyal, Misra said, “Puri railway station is still far removed from the world-class railway station status that was committed to it by the Railway Ministry nearly a decade ago. I earnestly urge you to sanction special funds for renovation and upgradation of the Puri railway station to world-class standards in the upcoming Railway Budget.”
The MP further requested the Minister to consider connecting Bhubaneswar and Puri by rail link with the golden quadrilateral of Konark and Satapada to ensure that visitors who come to Puri get the benefit of seeing the magnificent Konark Sun Temple and beach and also the marvellous Chilika lake situated next to Satapada.
