Bhubaneswar: Good news for health, fitness and lifestyle enthusiasts, senior citizens, students and kids as N-5 area of Nayapalli, near to Jaydev Vihar, is likely to get a full-fledged park by December end.
Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has commenced development work of the park in N-5 Nayapalli . Spread over around 3 acres of land, the park is set to get a facelift with proper pathways, additional benches, garden, along with other furniture and lighting facilities. The fully functional park is expected to be open for public by December 2017. As per the locals, N-5 didn’t have any park though the space was designated for park long ago.
BDA team led by chief horticulturist AN Dhar removed unauthorised structures such as concretized cricket pitch and other sheds early today for smooth commencement of the work and early completion. “We are trying to make the park ready by the end of December this year,’’ he said.
The horticulture wing of BDA also plans to increase the height of the boundary wall by adding iron grills above the existing wall. A watchman’s shed has already been constructed in the park. Soon water sprinklers will get added along with development of a proper garden by the BDA horticulture team.
Sources in the BDA horticulture wing said there is a plan to set up open-air gym facility along with children’s play equipment in this park over next few months once it is completed.
It can be mentioned here that both BDA and BMC are unitedly working towards creating more green and open spaces across the city so that people will get more activity space and keep themselves healthy and fit. Already BDA has introduced Open Air Gym equipment in 15 parks across the city and this has increased footfall in manifolds as people from all age groups have loved the approach to exercise in the open through the equipment.
