Report by Basant Rath; Nabarangpur: Bad road connectivity has been acting as hindrance in shifting patients from remote pockets of Nabarangpur district to hospitals.
With ambulance failing to reach the doorsteps, villagers carry
patients on cots or slings to the vehicle which waits at the nearest
motorable road.
In a fresh incident, Dabugam MLA Manohar Randhari, and his associates carried a pregnant woman of Kusumkhunti, on a sling for 6 km scaling hilly terrain to reach Papadahandi hospital.
According to sources, Jema Behera, of Kusumkhunti, under Maidalpur gram Panchayat of Papdahandi block complained of labour pain around 10 am. The legislator had gone to a remote village in the region, during which an expectant woman was undergoing labour pain in the locality. As arrival of ambulance was not possible due to non-motarable road, the MLA and associates carried the woman on a sling for 6 km.
On reaching the main road, Randhari took the woman to Papadahandi hospital in his car. The MLA’s heart-winning effort has been praised by many.
Among others President of RCMS Susant Behera, Vice-chairperson of Papadahandi Block Trinath Pradhani, associated the MLA. Randhari assured the villagers to provide road connectivity to the villages.
