Odisha Leader of Opposition urges State Govt to stop disbursing Local Area Develop funds to MLAs for two years

Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik (BJP) on Tuesday demanded that the State Government take a cue from the Union Government and stop disbursing Local Area Develop funds to MLAs for two years and cut salaries of MLAs and Ministers by 30 per cent for a year.

“The Union Government and the State Governments are struggling round the clock to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. At this critical time, political leaders have a redponsibility to play,” opined the LoP.

He too urged the Government to cut 30 per cent salaries of political persons who have been appointed as Presidents and Chairpersons of various organisations, development councils and undertakings run by the Government.

Naik suggested that a special fund be created with money so collected for combating coronavirus and resolving health sector issues on a long-term basis
