Puri: The Jagannath Temple in Puri on Tuesday received a record quantity of gold and silver jewellery as donation from a devotee, whose name was not disclosed.
A representative of the devotee met Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar at his office and handed over to him the jewellery weighing about 4.858 kg.The jewellery included ‘Jhoba’, ‘Srimukha’ and ‘Padma’ of the deities of the Shreemandir. During the different ‘Beshas’ of the deities, the jewellery would be used, sources said. The temple administration would hand over the jewellery to the Bhandara Mekap after weighing them on Wednesday.
