Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena on Friday inaugurated new cancer care unit at Capital Hospital. A new operation theatre was also inaugurated at the Eye Department of the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “A comprehensive cancer care programme is being implemented in Odisha since 2016. Under the programme, the patients suffering from the disease are given free consultancy, chemotherapy and post-treatment cares are being given free of cost.”
Jena further said the facilities are being provided in Capital Hospital, Rourkela Government Hospital and in all the district headquarters hospitals (DHHs).
“As many as 11,330 cancer patients have visited the OPD in the DHHs since the launching of this programme, and free chemotherapy was given 10,285 times.” the minister informed.
