Bhubaneswar: The health and family welfare department of the state will be making chemotherapy available in all districts for cancer patients right from the initial stages. This was informed by the Health secretary Pramod Meherda .
He said the state government is taking steps to fight cancer and identify the disease in the initial stages. The health secretary said that pap smear test, biopsy, FNAC and other tests needed to identify cancer will be available in all 30 districts soon including options of treatment and therapy at the patient’s house in 10 districts. NGOs and Asha workers will be trained for the therapy. A training centre will be set up at the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre for this purpose. Also, doctors in the surgery and gynaecology departments will be trained in cancer treatment.
