Bhubaneswar: The State Government has urged the Centre to name the newly-constructed Jharsuguda airport as Veer Surendra Sai Airport.
Chief Secretary AP Padhi wrote to Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Guruprasad Mohapatra in this regard on Wednesday.
Padhi said the new airport, which is to be made operational soon, should be named after western Odisha’s veteran freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai.
While forwarding a copy of letter of Bargarh MP Prabhas Kumar Singh to Dr Mohapatra, the Chief Secretary said Singh has represented to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard.
The State Government has accepted the MP’s proposal, the Chief Secretary pointed out to the AAI Chairman.
