#Odisha govt to distribute rice, wheat and kerosene oil for three months (April-June) during April 1 to May 15

Bhubaneswar: Odisha govt would distribute rice, wheat and kerosene oil for three months (April-June) during April 1 to May 15. To avoid rush at the fair price shops in view of the  coronavirus threat, the PDS products will be distributed in a staggered manner.

No biometric scanning system either through fingerprint or IRIS scanner for beneficiaries of national/state food security schemes to receive PDS goods for April-June months in view of  COVID2019 threat .

Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department has decided to distribute rice, wheat, A S.K. Oil to 3.26 crore beneficiaries under National Food Security Act and 4.50 lakh beneficiaries under State Food Security Scheme through Public Distribution System, for April, May and June 2020, from tot of April to 15th of May 2020. Beneficiaries have been given an window period of 45 days to collect their 3 months’ ration/S.K. Oil entitlements in staggered manner, so as to avoid rush at the Fair Price Shops in the wake of ongoing Corona virus threat. Since Corona virus is contagious in nature, foodgrains shall be distributed to PDS beneficiaries through e-PoS devices but, without using any type of bio-metric scanning through either finger print scanner or IRIS scanner attached to the e-PoS. Collectors have been asked to complete all preparatory arrangements within next 7 (seven) days time to that distribution will start from 1st of April 2020.
