Bhubaneswar: The State Government has decided to open one Adarsha Vidyalaya (AV) in each of the 314 blocks with an aim to create 25,000 meritorious students with English medium education each year.
By now, a total of 56,753 students have been enrolled in 190 Adarsha Vidyalayas and 1,304 teachers appointed in 160 such schools. Besides, advertisement for recruitment of 1,704 more teachers for 190 such such schools has already been issued. The district Collectors have been authorised to engage nonteaching staffs in these schools.
As many as 92 Junior Clerk-cum-Accountants and 324 Class-IV staffs have been engaged in 160 Adarsha Vidyalayas.
Besides, that as many as 10,000 students are receiving merit scholarship and the Annual Budget for the purpose is set at Rs 42.9 crore. As many as 7,500 students are receiving scholarship for excellent performance in mathematics and the Annual Budget for the purpose is Rs 25 crore.
A release of the School and Mass Education Department revealed all these on Tuesday.
It stated that the Mukhya Mantri Medha Bruti would be given to students who achieve highest marks in Class-X Board examination.
As many as 100 students of each block, 100 students of each municipal corporation, 50 students from of each municipality and 20 students of each NAC, totaling 35,440 students, will receive this scholarship of Rs 5,000 per head.
The department will also initiate Odia Bhasa Bruti scholarship under which students achieving highest marks in Odia language in Class X Odisha Board Examination will be given financial incentives. As many as 10 students of each block, 10 students of each municipal corporation, five of each municipality and two of each NAC, totaling 3,544 students, would receive this scholarship of Rs 5,000 per head.
Schools achieving highest results in HSC examinations would receive Quality Award. Three schools of each block, two of each municipal corporation, one of each municipality and one of each NAC, totaling 1,060 schools, would receive award of Rs 1 lakh each. Parents of 10 best students of the districts would be felicitated with cash incentive of Rs 3,000 each.
A total of 300 parents will be felicitated. In total, an amount of Rs 30.99 crore has been provided in the Budget for 2018-19 for the purpose.
In a bid to increase enrolment and reduce drop outs, Class IX of all schools would be given Rs 2,600 for purchase of bicycles.
As of now, as many as 18,412 Ganasikhaks have been regularised and 24,807 regular primary teacher posts have been created to regularise all eligible Sikshy Sahayaks.
