Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik discussed initiatives to identify and celebrate innovations in rural Odisha with Professor Anil K Gupta, Executive Vice-Chairperson National Innovation Foundation – India and Founder, Honey Bee Network. Prof Gupta is carrying out a Shodh Yatra across India to identify and promote rural innovators. Highlights from their discussion:
• Prof. Gupta lauded innovative ability of youth in Bargarh district and mentioned how teachers, mechanics, weavers etc. there devised new techniques and floated new ideas to make themselves more efficient at work
• Describing his journey from Barpali to Nrusinghnath, he cited case of a mechanic in Barpali who designed a diesel engine more efficient than ones available in market
• Unanimity on identifying and celebrating rural innovators of Odisha; in situ incubation to innovators for supporting them with training & credit linkage also discussed
Chief Minister Shri Patnaik underscored need to organize festivals of innovation that galvanize youth and motivate them to ideate, innovate and create. Such a step would not only help achieve the mission of Startup Odisha, but also nurture the saplings of innovation across the state.
