Odisha Govt asks district Collectors to submit Cyclone Amphan damage assessment reports within 48 hours

Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Wednesday asked the concerned district Collectors to submit Cyclone Amphan damage assessment reports within 48 hours.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena said that after the Collectors submit preliminary reports, they have to submit final reports. Then, it can be ascertained as to how much funds would be required and the timeframe for restoration works, he said.

Jena said a large number of trees have been uprooted. The electricity infrastructure has been damaged and there are minor damages to the telecom network. There are also damages to several houses with asbestos roofs. Infrastructure restoration works, which have already begun, would be completed soon.

He also informed that agriculture and horticulture crops have been damaged.
