Bhubaneswar: Shashibhusan Behera, Minister, Finance has given emphasis on most possible simplification of return filing process pertaining GST. Sri Behera was speaking in the 7th Meeting of Group of Ministers'(GoM) Meeting yesterday in New Delhi.
Two models were presented on the simplified process of return filing by tax payers by NIC and CBEC while Finance Minister suggested that both models should be discussed with the stake holders with details. Provisional credit should be allowed and there should be clear and adequate provisions for recovery by Tax Officials of the same in case of defaults. Minister Sri Behera also suggested that updated status of the e-Waybill application by NIC should ensure that there is no issue this time and should take onus of the system to ensure that it is well running this time.
The meeting was chaired by Sushil Kumar Modi, Deputy Chief Minister, Bihar and attended by Krishna Byregowda, Minister, Karnataka, Sri Amar Agarwal, Minister, Chatisgarh, Ajaya Bhushan Pandey, Chairman GSTN, Prakash Kumar, CEO, GSTN, and other senior officers from Centre and state. Tax Commissioners of Krnataka, Chatishgarh, Telengana were also present.
