Bhubaneswar: The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS), which has been holding a Satyagraha at PMG Square here for the last eight days for fulfilment of its demand for “price, prestige and pension” for farmers. This was announced by the NKS founder and national coordinator Akshaya Kumar.
He announced that it would gherao the State Assembly on Wednesday for the Government indifferent attitude towards its demands. He said that farmers from across the State would take part in the protest.
Meanwhile, Kumar in an “open letter” to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stated that for the last eight years, the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan is fighting for the rights of the farmers. For the last seven days the organisation is holding a demonstration at PMG Square for the interest of 36 lakh famers of the State. But till now, no official has come to meet them.
He further stated earlier the organisation had held a demonstration in 2005 during the anti-Posco agitation. But no officials came to meet them, following which the NKS was forced to gherao the Naveen Nivas.
