Bhubaneswar: Leading CSR think tank Odisha CSR Forum, organized a seminar on ‘Inclusive Growth of Odisha: Prospects, Challenges and Strategy’ today (18/11/2017) at Bhubaneswar. Participating the seminar, Dr. Sobhan Kumar Pattanayak, Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers, GoI stressed on promoting millets to reduce dependence on paddy cultivation which needs more water. Diversification of crops by shifting to moister based crops like millets can help in overcoming challenges of low rainfall, he added.
Prof. Deepak Kumar Mishra, Centre for Studies of Refional Development, JNU, New Delhi; Prof. Srijit Mishra, Director, NCDS, Bhubaneswar and Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO participated in this seminar and discussed various issues related to development of the state. “MSMEs are good employment creators. Companies should handhold the MSMEs for their growth. This will be a bigger CSR,” said Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO.
Justice KP Mohapatra addressed the gathering as introductory speaker. Mr. BK Mishra, Convener of Odisha CSR Forum and Mr. SN Tiwari Convenor of Western Odisha Forum made the opening address.
Mr. PK Hota, Trustee of Odisha CSR Forum and EVP & Head (CSR) of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd presented the vote of thanks.
