Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court [CJMC] here sentenced five accused persons to undergo five years imprisonment and pay fine Rs 2,000 fine each while delivering its judgement in a four years ago firing incident occurred in Chandagada village four km away from here. The accused persons were identified as Pradeep Kumar Pradhan from Patamundai, Rajendra Barik and Alok Moharana from Salepur under Kendrapada district, Himansu Jena from Chakaisani near Bhubaneswar and Subrata Swain a resident of Bisipitala village here.
Report said that on February 23, 2013 one Rakesh Kumar Swain from Bisipitala village had lodged an FIR with headquarter police station stating one Pratap Swain alias Dhuna accompanied by his four associates had fired to his family members following that one of his teen aged daughter Guduli has sustained injuries. Police swung in to action raided Dhuna’s residence at Bisipital village but he had fled from the home, later cops had invaded a local poultry firm suspecting Dhuna and other accoster’s presence there, on arrival of police there firing had started from the poultry firm as consequence cops had retaliated with the firing for self-defence.
The firing continued about an hour, Dhuna received hurt later succumbed to his injuries at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack but his associates five had managed to escape from police target. After two months all the accused persons had arrested, police filed charge sheet against them in CJM court here and the trail had started subsequently. The prosecution had produced evidences, witnesses and seized arms before the court during adjudication basing on prosecution submission court found the five accused persons guilty and awarded the punishment on Thursday.
