Bhubaneswar: College students having less than 75% attendance cannot henceforth sit for annual examinations. The Higher Education Department has written a letter to this effect to all colleges, including private ones, of the State in this regard.
Higher Education Secretary Saswat Mishra stated in a letter to the college Principals that students having more than 75% attendance would only be eligible to appear at the annual examinations. In case any student fails to be present in classes for the required period, he or she would be asked to attend extra classes, the letter stated.
College Principals were also directed to create awareness among students about the 75%-attendance norm much ahead of the annual examinations.
