Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik wrote to Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju seeking introduction of direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Pune. Currently, tourists from Odisha visiting Maharashtra and vice-versa face a lot of inconvenience as they have to take flights via other cities like Hyderabad and Mumbai.
Both cities are prominent educational and IT hubs with academicians and IT professionals frequently visiting each other. From the tourism perspective, tourists form Pune visit places like Puri, Konark & Chilika near Bhubaneswar while people from Odisha visit Shirdi, Mahabaleswar, and Trimbakeswar near Pune. Chief Minister Shri Patnaik sought the Union Minister’s personal intervention to introduce the direct flight between the two cities by Air India or any other private airlines at the earliest.
