Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and former MLA from Baliguda constituency, Sahura Mallick, passed away at a private hospital following a brief illness here on Friday. He was 85.
He was admitted to Baliguda hospital after he complained of uneasiness. However, he breathed his last at 4.15 AM.
Sahura was elected to the state assembly on Congress ticket from Baliguda constituency. He was elected three times–1974, 1980, 1995 for the assembly.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took Twitter to express his grief.
ବାଲିଗୁଡାର ପୂର୍ବତନ ବିଧାୟକ ସାହୁରା ମଲ୍ଲିକଙ୍କ ଦେହାନ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ। ବିଧାୟକ ଭାବେ ବାଲିଗୁଡା ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ବିକାଶ ପାଇଁ ସେ କରିଥିବା ଉଦ୍ୟମ ସର୍ବଦା ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ ରହିବ। ତାଙ୍କ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରିବା ସହିତ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଉଛି।

As the news of his demise broke, a pall gloom descended on his native village Sudra. Political leaders and fellow citizens thronged his residence to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
