Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flags off 7th pilgrimage train . CM Naveen Patnaik flags off special pilgrimage train for senior citizens at Balasore Railway Station through video conferencing from Bhubaneswar.
As many as 964 senior citizens from 4 districts boarded the special train. The pilgrims consisted of 305 senior citizens from Balasore, 179 from Bhadrak, 201 from Jajpur and 270 from Mayurbhanj district. The train will take the pilgrims of the state to Agra, Fatehpur Sikri and Mathura in North India during the seven-day tour. As many 26 officials of the state govt are accompanying the senior citizens for a hassle-free journey.
The The Chief Minister wished a comfortable, safe and successful journey to the senior citizens. The beneficiaries also expressed their immense happiness.While about 3000 senior citizen pilgrims of Odisha are having the pilgrimage opportunity through three special trains in a year fully sponsored by the State Government, from this year onwards it will be enhanced to six and 6000 beneficiaries will reap the benefit.
Under the BNTYY, three special trains have been leaving phase wise from Bhubaneswar, Brahmapur and Sambalpur. From this year, three more trains will start their pilgrimage from Balasore, Titilagarh and Rayagada.
Notably, the Odisha Tourism Department has earlier successfully organized 6 trips under this scheme during the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 while 6000 senior citizens of Odisha have already been benefitted.
