Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday expressed deep grief in the State Assembly over the death of the six-year-old rape victim of Salepur, who was undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack for more than a week.
He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the deceased victim’s family and assured the Assembly that stern punishment would be meted out to the rape accused.
It should be noted that the girl had been found unconscious in a school compound in Salepur on April 21. She died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital on Sunday. The accused in the case, Mohammad Mustaq, has been arrested.
