Bhubaneswar: Addressing a massive gathering at Janata Maidan Grounds in the heart of the city during foundation stone laying and inauguration of several major projects worth around Rs 1,300 Crore, Honourable Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today distributed 8,665 entitlement certificates, 104 final allotment letters and 130 provisional allotments letters to slum residents of the city.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also made an announcement of a special package of Rs 1,000 crore for the drainage development across the city. This will certainly help the citizens to provide respite during urban flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas in the State Capital.
It can be mentioned here that the State Government has already distributed more than 2,000 allotment letters before making the availability of houses to more than 10,000 slum residents across the city.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister also announced that by 2022 not a single slum resident would be left out without a “pucca’’ house as his Government will keep its promises in subsequent phases.
To create a comprehensive, holistic policy framework to address all aspects of housing for the urban poor, the State Government has brought in “Policy for Housing for All in Urban Areas, Odisha” in the year 2015. As a pioneer state in the country Odisha has taken up “Housing for All” as a top priority mission. The Government has established a Mission namely “Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM)” and earmarked adequate financial, technical and managerial resources to this effort. The State Government envisages seven models for intervention under the Housing for All Policy, which can operate independently or in combination with each other to meet the objective of housing for all.
The Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of 40 projects worth around Rs 1,160 Crore of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) and Tourism Department. He also inaugurated one housing project at Rangamatia and Nirman Shramik Rahani Sthal at Kharvel Nagar worth about Rs 59 Crore.
The foundation stone laying included 12 drainage projects of BMC, six renovation of water bodies by BMC, nine community toilet projects by BMC, five toilet on wheels by BMC, rejuvenation of Bindusagar by Tourism Department, seven projects by BDA, 10 projects by OPTCL, development two depot by CRUT, BMC-ICOMC building by BSCL, Integrated Development of Ekamra Kshetra by Tourism Department.
The Chief Minister Also laid foundation stone for seven projects involving roads and buildings by Public Works Department.

In order to give people and visitors of Bhubaneswar a complete digital solution for accessing the city’s multiple services and letting them know about important and interesting information, the Bhubaneswar.me Unified Portal, developed under the Bhubaneswar Smart City Project, was launched by the Chief Minister on the occasion at Janata Maidan this afternoon.
The Bhubaneswar.me Unified Portal has been designed to be user-friendly, carrying generic information about the city as well as links providing details regarding services offered that can be availed by people.
At Janata Maidan today more than 50,000 people congregated. A large number of women and youth were also seen at the venue.
