Bhubaneswar: Odisha broke the 10-year record on cold wave. This was informed by the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) Regional Director Sharat Chandra Sahoo.
Cold wave continues to sweep the State with the minimum temperature plummeting below 10 degree Celsius in most regions in the past seven days, the cold in Odisha broke the 10-year record on Wednesday. The cold intensified across the State on Wednesday night with Phulbani and Daringbadi recording 3.5 degree and 4 degree, respectively.
The mercury continues to dip from the beginning of the New Year. While three places recorded below 10 degree on January 1, seven places had temperature below 10 degree on January 4. Later, 13 cities recorded below 10 degree on January 5, 6, and 7. The mercury dropped below 10 degree in 15 places on January 8.
While 15 stations recorded below 10 degree on January 9, on Wednesday the temperature fell below 10 degree in 14 stations, the IMD said.
