Bhubaneswar: The Assembly Standing Committee on Paddy MSP would seek an appointment from Prime Minister’s Office soon to meet PM Narendra Modi and present the State’s demand for an increase in minimum support price of paddy per quintal to Rs 2,930.
This was informed by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empower Minister Dr Damodar Rout . Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra said if the Prime Minister would not give time to the Assembly panel, the members would sit on a dharna in front of the Parliament in protest.
It may be noted that a unanimous resolution seeking to suggest to the Union Government to raise the paddy MSP to Rs 2,930 had been passed in the State Assembly during the last Budget Session with the support of the ruling BJD and Opposition Congress and BJP members.
