Angul: O.P. Jindal School organised its 8th Annual Sports Day today at the School premises with great jubilance. In the true spirit of sportsmanship, young athletes of the school showcased spectacular performance in various categories of sports events.
Mr. Alok Malhotra, VP, HR & ES of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd , Angul graced the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated the much awaited event with hoisting of the school flag. During his address, he stressed on the significant role of sports in development of the students and building for a better society. He also administered oath to the students.
Mr. Chhanda Charana Das, Principal of the School in his welcome address said “Sports plays a great role for character building and overall development of the students. He appealed the parents in gallery to encourage the learners towards their athletic achievement.
Coordinated by Dr. Abhishek Sanchora, PET, a host of sports events including Mass Drill, running race, shot put, lemon race, long jumps, high jumps, head balance, balloon bursting and so on were conducted for both boys and girls with great enthusiasm. Students of all the Houses of the School, namely Bhakti, Mukti, Riti and Shakti presented displayed excellent sporting talent in various events.
Attending the valedictory session, Mr. Yogesh M. Patel, VP – Plate Mill presented the prizes to the winners of various sporting events. Both Bhakti & Mukti House became champions of the Day, whereas Riti House won the Runners Up trophy and Shakti House was honoured with first prize for their performance in march-past.
Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma thanked the participants, guests, teachers, audience and students for being a part of the Annual Sports Day.
