Bhubaneswar: Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Thursday afternoon on her maiden visit to India. The Nepal President will tour the pilgrim town of Puri on today and have a darshan of the Holy Trinity at the Shree Mandir. She would also visit the Sun Temple at Konark on the day. She is scheduled to fly back to New Delhi in the evening.
At the airport, she was given a red-carpet welcome and received by Finance Minister Pradeep Amat, Home Secretary Asit Tripathy and DGP KB Singh. From the airport, she went to the hotel where she is staying. Later, she attended a function at the Mission Shakti office at Pokhariput here.
In the evening, she visited the Lingaraj Temple and spent about 45 minutes there. She was welcomed by members of different sections (Nijogs) of temple servitors and the temple management committee.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements for her visit. Police Commissioner YB Khurania said security has been beefed up at all the places she would visit.
