National flag to fly on 100 ft. high post at Raja Bhoj Airport

 

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that taking into account the business expansion in Madhya Pradesh and the large number of people travelling abroad from Bhopal and Indore, both the airports should be given status of international airports. Discussion will be held on this issue with the Centre. Shri Chouhan was addressing a gathering at the Raja Bhoj Airport during a programme held to hoist the national flag on a 100 ft high memorial flag post.

The 20 ft. long and 30 ft. wide national flag will fly over the airport 24 x7. Power breackup has been arranged to keep it illuminated. The maintenance of the flag post will be taken care of by the Airports Authority of India. This was established by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.

CM Shri Chouhan said at the flag hoisting ceremony that there should be good air service taking into account the business and industrial expansion of the state. State government will extend full support for this. He said that the tricolor is our pride. Countless patriots have laid down their lives for the tricolor. This will always inspire people towards devotion for the country.

CM Shri Chouhan laid the foundation of a one megawatt capacity solar energy plant on the occasion which will be completed in the next three months. This is a joint effort of the Airports Authority of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam. About 12 lakh unit electricity will be produced from this plant every year. About Rs 1 crore will be saved every year in the electricity bill of Bhopal Airport. The total cost of the project will be recovered in less than five years.

A memento was presented by the AAI to the Chief Minister. Director Flight Lieutenant of AAI Shri Akashdeep Mathur welcomed the guests. Airports Authority of India Chairman Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra told the Chief Minister that very soon Bhopal will have a few new flights.

MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma, Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Chairman Shri Vijendra Singh Sisodia and employees and officers of the Airport were present on the occasion.
