Koraput: Nandanik, a theatre group based in Koraput, Odisha organised a two day workshop on 6-7 February 2019 at its office in Koraput. The workshop was on ‘Theatre Organisation’. The workshop was aimed at learning of procedures to run a theatre group and identifying the various avenues of resource mobilization for theatre artists and groups.
Sourav Chattopadhyay, director of Kolkata based Theatre Workers Repertory was the principal resource person of this workshop. The young members of Nandanik who aspire to become full time theatre professionals took part in the workshop. The participants were trained to do documentation, maintain files, paperwork, preparation of projects for grants and scholarships etc.
Ajaya Edding, a participant said, ‘The workshop was very useful as it showed us the way to become economically self sufficient in Theatre.’ Prof Sourav Gupta, creative director of Nandanik said, ‘Nandanik’s long term aim is to develop a few young theatre enthusiasts of Koraput into semi professional theatre artists if not fully professional and this workshop was a small step towards it.’
Nandanik was established in 2014 in Koraput and has been constantly engaged in activities related to theatre learning, training & production
