Bhubaneswar: Unions and associations of NALCO went on a wildcat strike at the smelter unit, in Angul, without giving prior notice. The strike was called based on a rumor that NALCO is going to be disinvested and privatized.
In this context the Management has issued an appeal to all unions, associations and employees, clarifying that at present there is no proposal for privatization of NALCO and that such strikes have an impact on production & sales. Apart from this loss, the paramount concern is for safety of employees and equipments since flash strikes in a thermally sensitive unit exposes the employees & equipments to several safety and security risks.
The Company has already informed the State Government and District Administration requesting them to extend all assistance to keep the plants running and maintain law and order.
