Sambalpur : Employees at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, today took a pledge for protecting environment for their next generation, as the company observed the World Environment Week 2018.
Mr L N Mishra, Director (Personnel), hoisted the enviornment flag at MCL HQs here and administered the pledge to employees, which was also administered at Area level of the company in Jharsuguda, Angul, Sundergarh and Sambalpur district of Odisha.
“We pledge to conserve the environment for our coming generations. Besides ensuring adequate useage of water, we will always work for its conservation and recycling. We will contribute towards reduction of air and water pollution due to mining activities. We will work for restoration of mining areas to ensure glory of mother earth”, senior officers and the staff reiterated after Mr Mishra. Mr OP Singh, Director (Tech./Projects & Planning) was also present in the pledge taking ceremony.
On this occasion, Mr Mishra also read out the message of Mr A K Jha, Chairman, Coal India, wherein he had emphasised on the need to protect the environment and preserve it for coming generations.
The Department of Environment & Forest, MCL, had organised a series of activities to spread awareness on “Beat Plastic Pollution” among people as a part of World Environment Week-2018.
