Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, awarded 107 coal miners, including 27 officers, on the May Day, which is celebrated as Miners’ Day in the company.
As declared by Mr A K Jha, Chairman & Managing Director, the company is observing current fiscal as Welfare Year, with a focus on developing infrastructure and facilities for personnel deployed in various projects in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of Odisha.
“The company is going to enhance welfare measures for workers during this year, which we are commemorating as Welfare Year” said Mr JP Singh, Director (Technical/Operations), who was chief guest on the occasion.
Mr L N Mishra, Director (Personnel), who also conveyed the message of the CMD, spoke on focus of company to extend welfare facilities to contractors’ employees engaged in MCL projects. “Since we have developed a healthy system for welfare of our own employees, we now have to move on level of contractors’ workers engaged in our projects, as they are also contributing a lot in company’s productivity,” Mr Mishra added.
Mr O P Singh, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning), Mr K C Patel, president OCMS-INTUC, Mr K C Patra, president, OCMLF-HMS, Mr Anit Charavorty, BCMW-AITUC, Mr Balkrishna Biswal, Secretary, ABKMS-BMS and Mr Bijay Kumar Sethi, General Secretary, CMOAI also addressed the audience and gave away prizes awards.
