Bhunaneswar: The Manage Autism Now (MAN) has organised a workshopon ‘Structured Behaviour Therapy’ for the children affected with Autism Spectrum Disorder at DAV School of Business Management (DSBM) in Bhubaneswar.
Dr JyothiKarayat, a certified structured Behaviour Therapist and Certified Special Educator in Autism from Banagalore had conducted the workshop. The eminent resourceful persons who participated in the workshop are Dr SoumyaDarshan Nayak, Neurologist, SCB Medical College, Cuttack and Prof.Anurupa Senapati, HOD, Occupational Therapy, NIRTAR, Oltapur. Dr Karayat rendered valuable inputs to the participants on behavioural pattern of autistic children.
Dr Karayat said:“The proper and systematic Pattern needs to be followed to deal with the children with autism spectrum disorder.A successful intervention requires the cooperation of the child, parent, and therapist. With consistent practice and teamwork, interventions can make a difference”.
Ms Swarnalata Mishra, Chairman, MAN Trust said: “There are many interventions to address many challenges, parents encounter when raising a child with autism. Some intervention strategies can be a one-time event, while others require regular sessions for a long time”.Smt Mishra also expressed her gratitude to all the concerned persons of DAV School of Management for extending outstanding support for conducting such event.”
The MAN since its inception has been organising variousactivates on different occasions in the city to bring the autistic children and parents under one roof with an aim to create a conducive atmosphere where both special students and the parents learn to resolve unwanted behaviour amicably. In this year, both parents and autistic children celebrated the International Yoga Day, 70th Bana Mahotsavand even recently theBol- Bom bustle with gusto.
The authority and students of DSBM extended their support in conducting this workshop.
