Major fire breaks out at IOCL refinery plant at Paradip a week before PM Narendra Modi’s visit

Paradip: Major fire breaks out at the AV unit of IOCL refinery plant at Paradip on Saturday evening has gutted infrastructure worth crores of rupees. Officials believe a spark from a drilling machine might have reached to the unit resulting in fire mishap.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicates Paradip Refinery of IOCL to the nation.
A massive fire broke out at an Atmospheric and Vacuum Distillation Unit (AVU) of the IOCL refinery here on Saturday evening. The incident which spread chaos among the workers, occurred at around 6.30pm in the evening. While Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was present in the refinery at the time of the incident, it sent shivers down the spines of the administration of the refinery.
As many as four fire tenders of the refinery was put into action to douse the fire. But realizing that intensity of the fire, authorities pressed three more tenders hiring from Paradip Port , PPL and IFFCO. It took the fire fighters hours to douse the flame.
