Mahanadi Coalfields Limited to set up 112-bed quarantine facility in Odisha

Talcher: The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is setting up a 112-bed quarantine facility to help the State combat the COVID- 19.

“Eight independent quarantine cabins with attached washrooms have already been set-up while 20 additional cabins are being prepared at the Talcher-based Nehru Shatabdi Central Hospital (NSCH) to check the corona virus menace,” said MCL Chief of Medical Services Dr Debashish Gupta.

Two air-conditioned quarantine wards with 40 beds each are being set-up in the newly-constructed building of Mahanadi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Talcher as an additional preparatory measure in consultation with the district medical authorities, he added.

The company has also created a four-bedded quarantine facility at its Central Hospital at Ib Valley in Jharsuguda district to support the State administration in the preparatory measures to check the spread of coronavirus.

Awareness and precautions which would be a double-edged sword to combat coronavirus, is being propagated through various modes of communication among masses, particularly employees, who are engaged in ensuring the uninterrupted supplies of coal to thermal power stations and other industry.

Besides running a “Coronavirus Awareness Campaigns” at MCL offices and residential premises across command area in Odisha, thermal scanner are being put to use while ‘social distancing’ has been encouraged.
