Koraput: The Kunduli gang rape survivor allegedly committed suicide here on Monday. According to Sunabeda SDPO Narahari Nayak, the survivor was rescued in a critical condition at her home and was rushed to Kunduli hospital where she was declared brought dead.
The survivor had brought rape charges against four security personnel posted in the region on October 10, 2017. The incident had triggered state-wide outrage following which police and Crime Branch probe was ordered.
Later, HRPC stated that there was no truth to the allegations made by the survivor. Moreover, police also denied any evidence of gang rape. Meanwhile, the BJP and the Congress have demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged suicide.
It should be noted that the minor tribal girl, a Class-IX girl of Sarispadar Sevashram School, and a resident of Musaguda village under Pottangi police limits, had alleged that she was kidnapped and gang-raped by four armed security personnel, who were in jungle patch uniform in Lanjiguda forest while returning from Kunduli on October 10.
