Living Legends of Odia Literature to engage with emerging leaders of the region
Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Literary Festival, Odisha Diary Foundation (ODF) are organizing Kandhamal Literary Festival on 14, 15th December 2019 at Phulbani to discuss the interconnections between nature, culture and literature.
This is part of ODF’s flagship initiative Kalinga Literary Festival’s extension to reach out to different regions of the state. Kandhamal is famous for its natural beauty, indigenous culture and simplicity in social lifestyle and behaviour. These are pristine qualities for any thinker, philosopher, writers and poets.
Leading names including the legends and emerging writers, poets, intellectuals like Jayanta Mahapatra, Amaresh Patnaik, Jyoti Nanda, Adhyapak Biswaranjan, Soorya Mishra, Mohit Chakrabarty, Rabi Swain, Kedar Mishra, Aditeswar Mishra, Amaresh Biswal, Madan Mahapatra, Girija Prasad Mishra, Suit Panda, Ranjeeta Panda, Sarat Acharya, Narendra Bhoi, Pradip Kanhar, Bideshi Nayak, Tirthajani, Madhusudan Mahapatra, Hadibandhu Mahakuda, Prakash Senapati, Niranjan Nayak, Chandrasekhar Hota, Birendra Das, Khetrabasi Manseth, Jogeswar Panda, Anil Panda and others will join the Kandhamal Literary Festival. Over 60 poets from Kandhamal Districts will recite poems during the two days festival.
Guests likely to join the inaugural ceremony are Revenue Minister Sudam Marandi, Transport Minister Padmanaba Behera and Energy Minister Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi and noted educationist and Kandhmal MP Dr. Achyut Samant will join the festival as Guest of Honour. Noted Poet Jayanta Mahapatra will join as Key Note speaker of the event.
“Kandhamal has many things to offer. It has been a silent inspiration for many. We want to explore the interconnections between Kandhamal with Odisha’s literary history and celebrate Kandhamal’s rich artistic and cultural heritage”, said Rashmi Ranjan Parida, the organizer and founder of the Kandhamal Literary Festival and Kalinga Literary Festival. Poetry is a universal expression of human creativity. Kandhamal Literary Festival will see both young and seasoned poets at one platform. The effort is to popularize literature among the youth”, said Mr. Parida.
Mr Debasish Samantray, co-founder and convener of the Kandhamal Literary Festival expressed happiness on the overwhelming support for Kandhamal Literary Festival from people around Odisha and all parts of the country. He believes that Kandhamal Literary Festival will be a regular event on the literary calendar of the state. This is part of our outreach to Odisha’s nook and corners for knowledge and inspiration, said Samantray.
