With more than 200 sanitation workers, five tractors, 1 JCB, 2 compactors, 60 numbers of 250 litres of dustbins and 30 dustbins of 1,100 liters size, the biggest civic body of the State did the act smartly in collaboration with Puri Municipality to clean up the venue site, parking areas and road sides.
The venue at Rahangiria village near Malatipatapur saw one of the largest ever farmers’ congregation in Odisha where the Chief Minister released funds online under the first phase beneficiaries of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA). More than 1.5 lakh farmers from across Odisha attended the convention yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner of BMC Prabir Kumar Khilar, Nodal Officer to see all sanitation work carried by BMC, said “the civic body deployed the cleaning staff from its own wards and also from private agencies working in the State Capital i.e. PMR, Ramkey and Jagruti. Whereas 200 sanitation workers were deployed by BMC, Puri Municipality deployed 40 such workers and the latter took charge of the Malatipatapur bus terminal exclusively.’’
Saying that the cleaning at all places of the venue started on January 24 and continued even till today, a day after the mega farmers’ event, the nodal officer said “after the operation, the venue has become free from all garbage.’’
It can be mentioned here that with adequate deployment of dustbins by BMC and other vehicles like tractors, JCB and compactor from Puri Municipality, five mobile toilets were also set up by the civic bodies to help the general public.
In the recent past BMC was also associated with many important international and regional events like Odisha Men’s World Cup Hockey-2018 at Kalinga Stadium and City Festival at IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar, in order to ensure an efficient sanitation management plan and its proper execution.
