Angul: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) observed the 49th National Safety Week valedictory ceremony on 12th Mar, evening at its Angul plant premises. Mr. Umakant Samantray, Asst Director of Factories & Boilers graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the programme, in which Mr. Pankaj Gautam, COO-Odisha Business, Mr Suresh Kumar, ED-Maintenance & Mr. Damodar Mittal, Factory Manager and Head Iron Making Zone present as guests of honour.
Mr. Umakant Samantray highlighted the 10 point action plan by government of Odisha for reduction of industrial accidents in the state. He appreciated JSPL’s effort to promote safety in its Angul plant.
Mr. Pankaj Gautam administered the Safety Pledge and appreciated the involvement of HODs to improve safety of their departments. He emphasized on sustaining the initiatives started for achieving World class Safety standard. Mr. Suresh Kumar explained the importance of preventive measures and continuous improvement to take the safety standard to next level. Mr. Damodar Mittal appreciated the measures taken to control the injuries and advised to take up activities for creating awareness on gas safety and associated hazards.
On this occasion Mr. Navin Gautam, GM-Safety presented the Safety Report. In his report, he informed that there has been substantial reduction in reportable injuries and outlined implementation of several proactive measures taken by JSPL to control them.
During the weeklong celebration, several competitions such as Safety Quiz, Safety Slogan & Poster, JSA, Spot the Hazard, Safety Talk were organised. Winners of these competitions were awarded during the valedictory ceremony. Awareness activities through safety posters and training programme on Basic Life Support techniques, Fire fighting as well as Home safety were also conducted. Employees, Workers, their family members, School Children and Local Community Members participated in the celebration.
On this occasion Dr. K.P. Behera, Chief Medical Officer had explained the detailed awareness on CORONA VIRUS and emphasized on maintaining the personal hygiene. Other senior officers who were present on the occasion were Mr. Atul Dubey (HOD-SMS), Mr Arvind Bhagat (HOD-Blast Furnace), Mr. A.N. Tiwari(HOD-CGP), Mr. Brij Badhadra(HOD-Sinter Plant) , Mr Khilawan Sahu (HOD-Utility), Mr. Yogesh Patel (HOD-Plate Mill), Mr. Alok Malhotra (HOD – HR & ES).
