New Delhi: IndiGo – India’s largest airline, was named “Top Airline by Absolute Passenger Growth – South Asia” by Singapore-based Changi Airport Group today. In 2018, IndiGo’s traffic in Changi grew by more than 1,44,000 passengers, representing a rise of 57% as compared to 2017. With the stellar increase in traffic, IndiGo registered the strongest growth amongst all South Asian carriers operating in Changi in 2018.
Mr. William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are delighted to receive this award, and it is a testament of our commitment towards international expansion in Asia. IndiGo currently operates 37 weekly flights out of Singapore to Chennai, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Kolkata.
The Changi Airline Awards ceremony is held each year in Singapore to celebrate partnerships between airlines and airports, and to award recognition to the airline partners for their contribution towards the growth of Changi Airport as an important global hub. A total of 25 awards were presented to the airlines who contributed most significantly to Changi’s air traffic in 2018. They comprise the following categories – Top Airlines & Airline Groups by Passenger Carriage and Cargo Carriage, Top Airlines by Absolute Passenger Growth and Absolute Cargo Growth, Best Airline Marketing, and Partner of the Year.
