Dhenkanal: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal has brought out an enthralling photo book ‘Photos in the Time of Corona’. It has been curated and released by the Regional Director of the Institute, Dr Mrinal Chatterjee via Facebook live from the institute on Tuesday evening.
“We need to have a record of different aspects of an unprecedented pandemic like Covid-19,” said Dr Chatterjee. The book covers various aspects of the pandemic through photos. A few years later, it will be easy to find out through this book if you want to find out what happened during the pandemic. “Covid-19 suddenly infiltrated our lives, influencing our lifestyle. This is an attempt to keep a record of life during the Corona outbreak through photos and text. The photo book has been prepared as a document for the next generation,” he added.
Some of the photographs featured in the book have been collected from social media, various newspapers and websites. There are also some photos taken by well-known journalists and amateur photographers across the country.
Assistant Professor of IIMC, Dr Jyoti Prakash Mohapatra, said, “Many may forget the time of the corona in the next ten to fifteen years, but a picture is worth a thousand words. So this enthralling photo book is an excellent attempt to put the Covid-19 scenario and its impact on society in one place.
This book is not for sale or distribution. It will be kept the IIMC, Dhenkanal library and the visitors will be allowed to take a look at it.
The cover and layout were designed by Jitendra Pati. The event was moderated by Sambit Pal, an assistant professor at IIMC.
IIMC Dhenkanal is also planning to publish another photo book ‘Cartoons during the corona’ on 22 March.
