Hindalco gets Leadership Award for Sustainability

 

Bhubaneswar: By adding another feather to its cap, the Aditya Birla Group Company Hindalco has bagged the most coveted Leadership award for sustainability recently at the Frost & Sullivan and TERI Sustainability 4.0 Awards 2019 held at Mumbai.

“We are very happy to be awarded this sustainability recognition by Frost & Sullivan and TERI. It recognises the efforts of our employees and the management’s commitment to sustainability,” said Mr. Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco.

The senior officials have received the said award from Mr Atul Bagai – Country Head, UN Environment in India. Among the senior officials, Mr Bibhu Mishra – Head MCOE (Manufacturing Centre of Excellence), Hindalco, Mr Sandeep R Patil – Hindalco Belagavi; Mr. Sudarsan Dutta – Environment & Safety Dept.,Hindalco FRP, Mr Raghavendra Rao – Associate Partner & Sr Vice President; Mr. Ashish Sharma, Lead Sustainability – Hindalco, Mr K Venkatesh – AVP Sustainability & Environment, Hindalco; Mr K Kumarvel – Unit Head, Hindalco Belagavi, Mr Rajan Kumar-Hirakud FRP, Hindalco were present in the occasion.

Hindalco got the Leaders Award – Mega Large Business, Metal Sector” on account of its Leadership commitment to sustainability, Well-structured review framework of 3C+2S comprising the pillars – customers, cost and cash across which the principles of safety and sustainability are embedded, Aligning the elements of Circular economy in operations, well-rounded approach to sustainability, encompassing sustainable mining in partnership with Xynteo India 2022, energy conservation, recycling, responsible disposal of industrial wastes, socio-economic development of communities around the plant and empowerment of employees.

The awards highlight the need for linkages between an organisation’s strategy, governance & financial performance and the social, environmental & economic context within which it operates. This program enables businesses to take more logical & sustainable decisions that ensures long term stakeholder value.
