Shimla: The State Government would take up the matter regarding construction of Chini Tunnel with the Union Government in order to provide all weather road connectivity to the area, which remains cut from rest of the world for about six months. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the district level Fulyatra Utsav of Pangi in Killar of Chamba district today.
The Chief Minister said that DPR and survey for Dharaman-Killar National Highway would be expedited so that the construction of this road could be taken in hand at the earliest. He said that the DPR for construction of Chini Tunnel would also be included in overall DPR so that the area could be connected with all weather National Highway. He said that this would open new vistas of development in the area.
Jai Ram Thakur said that efforts would be made to construct small solar power plant in the area to provide uninterrupted power supply particularly in winter season. He said that specialist doctor would also be provided in the area for the benefit of the people. He said that four additional HRTC buses would be provided to Killar for benefit of the commuters. He announced that science lecturers would be posted soon in the Degree College Killar to benefit the students.
The Chief Minister announced opening of a separate Senior Secondary School for Girls at Killar. He also announced upgradation of Government High School Sural to Government Senior Secondary School and opening of Veterinary Dispensary at Udaan Matori. He announced Rs. 10 lakh for development of Mela ground. He also announced Rs. one lakh from this discretionary fund for the Mela Committee for organising the Utsav. He said that he would take up the matter of communication connectivity with the authorities of Jio and Airtel for improving the same in the area.
The Chief Minister said that the opposition leaders were making much hue and cry about his Delhi visits. But now these people are tight lipped as the present Government has succeeded in getting Central projects worth Rs 9000 crore sanctioned for the State. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special love and affection for the people of the State and was ensuring all possible help for the developmental needs of the people of the State.
Jai Ram Thakur said that hundreds of students got struck up Holi in Chamba due to untimely snow in the valley. The State Government ensured that all these students were safely handed over to their parents with the help of Union Government, he added. He said that Chamba district has been selected by the Centre Government for ensuring development for special grant and financial assistance.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone of Nature Park at Killar to be constructed at a cost of about Rs. 3 crore.
Agriculture and Tribal Development Minister Dr. Ram Lal Markanda said that soon after assuming office the present State Government took several decisions of welfare of the tribal people. He said that the people working in tribal areas of the State were given their pay and allowances advance but the previous Government stopped providing this advance. He thanked the Chief Minister that this advance was restored again he also thanked the Chief Minister for increasing budget for tribal areas. He said that the State Government has earmarked Rs. 25 crore for promotion of zero budget natural farming.
Member of Parliament Mandi Parliamentary area Ram Swaroop Sharma said that Pangi was one of the most difficult areas of the State, which need special attention in matter of development. He said that. Killar would soon be connected with National Highway due to the benevolence of Prime Minister Narindra Modi and commitment of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He announced an Ambulance to Killar hospital within a week from MP Fund.
MLA Bharmour Jia Lal Kapoor while welcoming the Chief Minister and other dignitaries to his home constituency said that it was a proud moment for the people of Pangi that today Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was with them during this traditional Fulyatra Utsav of Pangi valley. He also detailed various developmental demands of the area and also urged the Chief Minister for better road connectivity and solving problem of light in the area. He said that Pangi area has immense tourism potential and once better connectivity was ensured in the area, it could emerge as favourite destination for adventure loving tourists.
President of Killar Panchayat and Chairperson Fulyatra Utsav Organising Committee Sunita Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister and others in the traditional Fulyatra Utsav.
A colourful traditional cultural programme was also held on the occasion. One act Play ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ was also staged on the occasion.
MLA Bhatiyat Bikram Singh Jaryal, District President State BJP D.S. Thakur, Resident Commissioner Pangi CL Sharma, Pradhan Karyash Panchayat Prakash were present on the occasion among others.
