Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain lashes many parts of Odisha, normal life affected due to incessant rain. Torrential rain in the coastal and interior districts of Odisha crippled normal life due to a low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal.
Schools and colleges have been shot in Cuttack and Khordha as heavy rains continued unabated, throwing normal life out of gear.
Low lying areas in many costal districts including the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar remained waterlogged due to the incessant rain in the last 24 hours. Bhubaneswar recorded a record 102 mm rainfall between the evening and midnight of Monday.
Bhubaneswar Met office in a release said heavy to very heavyrain and thundershowers will continue to occur at as many as 11 districts in southern, western, coastal and heavy rainfall at interior districts of #Odisha during next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts and isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Deogarh and Dhenkanal districts of Odisha on Monday, the weatherman said.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur. Deogarh, Bargarh districts and isolated heavy rainfall likely to occur at Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh districts of Odisha.
