Bhubaneswar: His art was not limited to our country only but was known worldwide. Crossing the barriers and hurdles, he could reach Delhi. This was possible due to dedication, determination, sincerity, concentration of Late Guru Surendra Nath Jena which should inspire the young artists of this generation. These were the words of Shri Sanjiv Mallik, MLA Bhadrak district on the occasion of 12th Guru Surendra Nath Jena Medha Sanman held at Guruji’s native place, Uchhupur under Sabarang Panchayat, district Bhadrak, Odisha where he graced the occasion as the chief guest. Pratap Chandra Pradhan Trustee, SNJENA TRUST presided the occasion whereas Rabinarayan Khillar conducted the meeting. MLA Shree Mallik further said that Guruji belonged to such a remote village but due to his focused vision he reached Delhi for his further journey in the field of creating new unique style of Odishi.
Smt. Sukanti Nayak, Zilla Parishad member expressed that Guruji was like a Jasmine flower whose fragnance spreaded from Sabarang to the entire nation and abroad. Samiti member Rashmita Mallik, Sabarang Sarpanch Ranjita Nayak, Panchayat Smiti former chairperson Shri Praphulla Kumar Nayak, former Zilla Parishad member Dr. Purna Chandra Dash were amongst the other guests.
On this occasion, following students of Sabarang Panchayat, received the S N Jena Medha Sanman – 2019 for scoring highest marks in their respective schools : Rupali Bala (Sabarang High School), Sarojini Behera (Sabarang Girls High School), Rashmita Dalei (Atto Primary School), Satya Kumar Das (NDM UP School Atto), Namasya Nayak (Kshirasahi Nodal School). Satya Sundar Giri received special prize for scoring highest marks in Uchhupur village. Trustee Smt. Rama Jena Pradhan presented the vote of thanks whereas Pramila Giri, Shankara Giri, Basanta Jena, Khiroda Jena and Tapan Jena played an important role in organising the programme.
