Report by Nishapati Nayak, Koraput : Odisha Governor Satya Pal Malik praised the state government for successful implementation of various developmental projects for scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) people during his maiden one-day visit to tribal-dominated Koraput district on Wednesday.
As per the schedule, Malik reached Koraput by helicopter which landed at 11.15am at the BSF helipad from where he headed to the circuit house. After inspecting the guard of honour, Malik reached the district collectorate conference hall.
Collector K Sudarshan Chakraborty outlined various schemes being implemented in the district for the development of the tribal people. Malik reviewed the developmental schemes from 12 pm to 1 pm.
The review meeting was attended by Koraput MP Jhina Hikaka, Patangi MLA Prafulla Pangi, Laxmipur MLA Kailash Kulesika, SC&ST development department secretary G Venugopal, its director R Raghu Prasad, district superintendent of police Dr. KV Singh and other district-level officials.
Later, the Governor went to Padmanpur where he visited anganwadi centres, panchayat office and cluster houses and interacted with public representatives and SHG members. He also inspected handicrafts and terracotta work and later went around a farming exhibition organised by tribal women in the village. MP Jinna Hikaka and Collector KS Chakravarti accompanied the Governor during his visit.
This is the first time Malik visited any district in Odisha after assuming the charges of Governor of Odisha.
