Bhubaneswar: A NFDB sponsored 5 days training program on “Advances in Fish Nutrition and Feed Technology” is being organized by the Fish Nutrition and Physiology Division of ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Kauaalyaganga, Bhubaneswar during 02-06 November 2019. The 25 participants from 8 states of India are participating in this training program. The participants are comprised of Officials of State Fisheries Departments, NGO, FISHCOFED, Social Service Organizations, University Teachers, Entrepreneurs and Progressive Fish Farmers. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Bindu R. Pillai, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar. In her inaugural address she expressed that through fish based aquaculture, the production and income of the farmers can be enhanced and the targeted levels of fish production (5-6 tons/ha) could be achieved in the country. Dr.S.S.Giri, Head, Fish Nutrition and Physiology Division, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar said about the present status of fish and feed production in the country. At the outset, Dr.K.N.Mohanta, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA and the Course Director briefed the participants about the main objective of this training program and appealed to them that whatever knowledge they gain through this training must be transferred to the other stakeholders of their region for increasing the fish production in the country. Dr.K.C.Das, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA and the Course Coordinator outlined the course contents of the training program. A training manual containing all the lecture notes of the resource persons was released in the occasion. The inaugural function ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr.S.C.Rath, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA.
