Election Commission announces Schedule for General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of #Haryana, #Maharashtra

New Delhi: Election Commission of India today announced the Schedule for General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra, 2019 as also the Schedule for bye-elections to fill casual vacancy in the Parliamentary Constituency & State Legislative Assemblies of various States/UTs.
Chief Election Commission Sunil Arora on Saturday announced polls schedule for Maharashtra & Haryana Assembly elections. Elections in Haryana & Maharashtra in single phase will be on 21st October. The counting will take place on 24th October.
Special security arrangements will be made. Haryana has 1.82 crore registered voters and Maharashtra has 8.94 crore voters.  The 5-year term of the Legislative Assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra will expire on 2nd November and 9th November.
Announcing the poll schedule in New Delhi today, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said, the election process in both the states will be completed before November. Maharashtra has 288 seats and Haryana 90 seats. Model Code of conduct in these states has come into force with immediate effect.
